Zipline Pokhara – An Unforgettable Adventure Experience

The zipline  Pokhara runs from Sarangkot down to Hemja 1.8 kilometers of steel cable, a 600-meter vertical drop, and a ride that’s been described as one of the steepest and fastest of its kind anywhere. If paragliding is Pokhara’s scenic adventure activity, ziplining in Pokhara is its adrenaline counterpart: a couple of minutes of genuine speed rather than a sustained, gentle glide.

Mary Adventure Tours arranges zipline Pokhara bookings from our Lakeside office, including transport to and from the Sarangkot launch point. For travelers looking for an even longer ride, we can also arrange the zipline at Kusma, about 60km west of Pokhara  more on that further down this page.

Zipline  Pokhara Nepal: What It Involves

zipline rider descending from Sarangkot to Hemja Pokhara

You’re harnessed into a seated position at the top station on Sarangkot, around 1,600 meters above sea level, then released to descend the cable toward the lower station at Hemja. The ride itself lasts roughly one to two minutes, reaching speeds that operators commonly report above 100 km/h genuinely fast by any standard, with the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Pokhara Valley visible below as you descend.

Two riding positions are typically offered for zipline nepal pokhara bookings: a standard seated position, and a faster, headfirst “superman” position for those who want the more extreme version of the ride.

Including the drive from Lakeside, safety briefing, and gear setup, the full experience generally takes two to three hours from pickup to return, even though the ride itself is over in under two minutes.

 Zipline Pokhara Length and Route

The pokhara zipline length runs 1.8 kilometers from the Sarangkot top station to the Hemja lower station, with a 600-meter vertical drop along a steep, direct line down the hillside. This length and drop combination is what several operators cite as making it one of the steepest ziplines anywhere, rather than a longer, gentler descent.

The zipline pokhara location at Sarangkot is roughly a 30-minute drive from Lakeside  the same drive used for paragliding flights, since both activities launch from the same general area. Some operators also offer a cable car option from Sedi as an alternative route up.

Zipline in Kusma: A Longer Alternative

Beyond the Sarangkot-to-Hemja run, a second, longer zipline operates at Kusma in Parbat district, roughly 60km (about 1.5 hours’ drive) west of Pokhara. Running around 1.4 to 1.6 kilometers along the Kali Gandaki river gorge from Chakle Ridge, it’s often cited as the world’s second-longest “superman-style” zipline, with reported speeds in the range of 120 to 130 km/h.

This is a genuinely different trip from the Pokhara zipline  it takes longer to reach, and the ride itself follows a river gorge rather than descending toward a lakeside town. Some travelers combine it with onward travel toward Chitwan or Lumbini rather than a same-day return to Pokhara, given the distance involved. If the longer Kusma zipline interests you specifically, mention it when you get in touch, since it needs more advance planning than the closer Sarangkot ride.

Best Time for Ziplining in Pokhara
