Paragliding in Pokhara

Paragliding in Pokhara is one of the most popular ways for international visitors to see the Annapurna range up close  and you don’t need any flying experience to do it. A certified local pilot handles the flight. You just enjoy the view.

Mary Adventure Tours arranges tandem paragliding flights from our office in Lakeside, Pokhara, working with certified pilots who fly out of Sarangkot most days of the year, weather permitting. If you’re arriving from abroad, this guide covers what the flight involves, what it costs, when to go, and how to book it before or after you land.

What Paragliding in Pokhara, Nepal Involves

A tandem flight is the standard way to experience paragliding in Pokhara Nepal. You’re harnessed in next to a certified pilot who controls the wing from launch to landing. After a short safety briefing at the take-off point, you and the pilot run a few steps downhill together, and the glider lifts off.

Most flights last 20 to 30 minutes in the air. The exact time depends on wind conditions that day. During the flight, you’ll pass over Phewa Lake, forested hillsides, and small villages, with Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Himchuli visible for most of the ride.

Landing takes place on flat ground close to Lakeside the same area most hotels and guesthouses are based so you won’t need separate transport back into town.

Sarangkot sits at roughly 1,592 meters and is the main launch site for paragliding in Sarangkot, one of the most established take-off points in the region. Favorable wind patterns and a wide ridge make it usable across much of the year.

It’s about a 20 to 30 minute drive up from Lakeside, giving you an early look at the valley before takeoff.
